Consultants, Capacities, and Competencies

The firm maintains a contractual relationship with over 100 indigenous independent consultants with backgrounds in virtually every major sub-sector of health development. For over 20 years, we have worked with major Bi/Multi-lateral agencies, adding value to Nigeria’s Health System and populace. We have a robust database of national consultants supporting capacity building, health systems strengthening, and program management in the country’s health sector.

Our consultants come with sound theoretical backgrounds and multiple skills, mainly in the areas of Health, Social and Human Resource Development. More specifically, our areas of interest and expertise include Capacity Building and Institutional Strengthening; Strategic and Operational Planning, Frameworks and Policy design/development; Operational and Implementation Research and Documentation

We also design and carry out Baseline Surveys and Assessments. We facilitate consumer engagement and participation with policymakers, funders, and service providers; including the generation of audience-specific reports. We have extensive experience in community development; with emphasis on mainstreaming participatory methodologies in supporting Community Based and Non-Governmental / Faith Based Organisations.

 Most of our consultants are beneficiaries of a four-week training (in 4 contact sessions spread over one year). They are empowered to make a difference for our clients and society by providing high-quality professional Health Development services; characterized by indigenous excellence and ingenuity, diligence, and integrity. Our consultants are independently based in at least 26 out of Nigeria’s 36 States. They have independently provided a wide range of technical assistance in at least 30 out of Nigeria’s 36 States, thus leaving our footprint across Nigeria’s 6 geo-political zones.

 

Flagship Experience

As a network partner of the defunct Health Partners International[1] (UK), Treeshade Associates provided the bulk of national consultants (concurrently) to two of Nigeria’s longest-running bilateral support to the national malaria program. The UKaid/DfID-funded Support to National Malaria Programme (SuNMaP1 (2008 to 2015) and USAID-funded Malaria Action Programme for States (MAPS (2009 to 2014). Under the auspices of SuNMAP1 and MAPS1, the firm played a leading role in the design, field-testing, finalization, and roll-out of the Federal Ministry of Health, National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP) Harmonized Training & Support Materials for Strengthening Capacity for Malaria Control in Nigeria. The package addressed the two overarching themes of program management and service delivery. The Program focal states for SuNMaP were Anambra, Enugu, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Lagos, Niger, Ogun and Yobe States. Those for MAPS were Akwa Ibom, Benue, Cross River, Ebonyi, Kebbi, Kogi, Nasarawa, Oyo, and Zamfara.
